Dar Bouidar

At the foot of the Atlas Mountains, 30 km south of Marrakech, nestles the Dar Bouidar children's village, home to some 200 abandoned children (from a few days old to 14 years old).

Dar Bouidar consists of around fifteen family homes where the children live, according to their age. Two foster mothers per home take turns every week to provide full-time care and tenderness. Children with disabilities, who need special attention, are cared for in a dedicated house called the integration house, while babies up to around 15 months are cared for in the nursery run by a larger number of foster mothers.

The Dar Bouidar school for kindergarten and primary school children uses Maria Montessori techniques. The older children go to the nearest private school in the town by bus, specially arranged for the students.

An experienced equitherapy therapist runs sessions in the on-site equestrian center. Other therapy techniques such as music, yoga, dance and cranio-sacral therapies are also practiced.

The recent earthquake took a heavy toll on the school, infirmary and several houses in the village. Following the earthquake, Dar Bouidar also took in an additional hundred children who lost their homes. 100% of sales of these photos are donated to Dar Bouidar. With the generosity and partnership of our printer Studio Aza.
